Workshop Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Workshop Manager to oversee the maintenance, repair, and servicing of a fleet consisting of trucks, trailers, and passenger cars. The ideal candidate should have strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and experience in managing workshop operations to ensure maximum vehicle availability and cost-effective maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the workshop.
• Plan and supervise preventive and breakdown maintenance of trucks, trailers, and cars.
• Lead and monitor mechanics, electricians, welders, and other workshop staff.
• Ensure timely repairs to minimise vehicle downtime.
• Maintain maintenance schedules and service records for all vehicles.
• Control spare parts inventory and coordinate procurement.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and workshop housekeeping.
• Monitor workshop costs and optimise maintenance expenses.
• Coordinate with operations and transport teams for vehicle availability.
• Diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues and guide the technical team.
• Ensure proper use and maintenance of workshop equipment and tools.
• Prepare maintenance reports, KPIs, and monthly performance summaries.

Required Qualifications:

• Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering.
• 8–12 years of experience in fleet maintenance, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
• Strong knowledge of heavy commercial vehicles, trailers, diesel engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, and automotive electrical systems.
• Experience in team management and workshop planning.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and maintenance management systems is an advantage.
